08/03/15 – Cup Draw!! The North Cheshire Cup draw has pitted Alvanley 15s against Winnington Park at home
08/09/14 – Silverware!!! The Under 15s have brought home the 3rd trophy of the club’s season, with a convincing win over Bowdon.
Alvanley batted first on a gorgeous sunny day. Arthur Brummitt dominated the strike and the scoring in an excellent opening partnership of 53 with Ben Aveyard. Arthur’s 38 proved to be the top score of the day and had a big influence on the result. Alvanley batted well throughout the innings with solid contributions of 16 from Sophie Ecclestone, 24 from Will Fletcher and 19 off 7 balls at the end from Ben Russell. 135 for 6 was a challenging target. F Grosfils was the pick of Bowdon’s bowling with 2 for 16 off his 4 overs
Max Tonge was his normal frugal self conceding only 2 runs off his first two overs and Ben Russell took a wicket in his first over. This put great pressure on the Bowdon innings and they responded well as the Makin brothers created some momentum for the second wicket partnership. But Sophie Ecclestone took the initiative back with the next two wickets. A tidy stumping of T Makin by Will Fletcher followed by Will also catching A Makin for a very impressive 30; well played young man. At 55 for 3 at the half way stage, Bowdon were off the pace. Tidy bowling by 13 year old Tom Bailes who bowled the only maiden of the day, Harry Britton and Frazer Marsden contained the visitors to 116 for 9.The last over saw Frazer bowling with Bowdon needing 26 to win, they only managed 6 and in their aggressive approach Will Fletcher took 2 stumpings.
